Hippies, tie-dye, Volkswagens, and rock music filled the atmosphere when 20,000 concert-goes packed into the Gorge for The Dead's reunion show. The Dead, who changed their name from The Grateful Dead after the death of Jerry Garcia in 1995, played to a sold out crowd at the Gorge on May 16.

Computer generated animation films are my guilty pleasure. From "Ice Age" to "Over the Hedge," "Cars" to "Finding Nemo." "Up" has now been added to that list. What I find the most intriguing about these animated films is that there was somebody sitting behind a computer for hours and hours just setting up one little funny bit.

Pierce may be a two-year college, but its crammed packed with motivated, talented art students. This is apparent with "Inside the Indie," which started with a group of friends with a vision, and developed into a vibrant tell-all documentary. The film, created by Kurt Lindsay, Kevin De Flitch, and Tabitha Neeley, explores the independent music scene of the Pacific Northwest.

Books into films, not always a good idea

Dear Hollywood, please do not ruin any more of the best books ever written by turning them into movies. In my life there have been many trends running in and out Hollywood, like bulls on Spanish holidays. Few seem to stick, but one continuing trend is the adaptation of favorite children's novels to the big screen.
