Price for parking increases

The North parking lot is in shambles, Student Government may offer a vote to increase the price for student parking

Fee increase proposed to help pay for parking lot repairs It doesn't take an associate's degree for students to notice the bumps and cracks scattered throughout the parking lots on campus. These nasty potholes and root heaves not only cause a potential hazard for students and their cars, but also could cause a bit of a bump in student fees for next year - along with an anticipated 7 percent heave in tuition.

Amazon.com's Kindle and e-books online can provide students with lower prices and less paper, making in e-books a popular choice for students and professors.

It's always been a question as to why the faculty at Pierce are labeled as instructors, versus professor. Most students would probably agree that they automatically refer to their teacher as professor and it may feel forced to remember to refer to them as an instructor.

Pierce's budget is drastically reduced

Pierce College's budget was drastically reduced by $3.2 million dollars. For the last few months, the Budget Team met to decide what programs, positions, and people to cut to meet the allotted spending for next year. Ways of alleviating the cuts were to increase the class size maximizing the number of students in classrooms.

Pierce College goes digital with new reader board

Sitting back 50 feet from the road, the same reader board goes unnoticed. But by September, Pierce College will go digital and a new, more updated sign will be in its place. Currently, the Activities Board changes the magnetic messages every few weeks. The school decided that a brand new sign, closer to the road, would be easier to read.

Students interact with activities funded by student programs and also get a chance to have fun the week before finals. Pierce holds first dance in four years

Where you hear the word luau what do you think about? Hawaii? Roasted pig? Poi? How about two Lakewood police officers frisking you? That was the first thing that students experienced at Pierce's luau dance that took place on May 15. According to ASPCFS President Samantha Lopez, this was the first dance at Pierce College in seven years.

Washington State increases liquor tax

Those making alcohol apart of their summer vacation may want to take a second look at their wallet before purchasing a drink. Starting Aug 1 and through the end of 2011, the markup on liquor will significantly increase. This will cause the markup, the percentage of the cost of product to the Liquor Board, to be 51.

Over 35 million Americans suffer from seasonal allergies. Allergies often occur when the immune system react to a foreign substance such as pollen, pet dander, bee venom. The symptoms however depend on the allergy a person my have. There are many known allergies: hay fever, atopic dermatitis (eczema), food allergy, insect sting, and drug allergens.
