EDITORIAL: First dance in four years deemed disastrous
Issue date: 6/4/09 Section: Opinion
It only seemed fitting for the Lakewood Police Department to attend the Pierce College "luau dance" on May 15. After all, gunshots were fired in the parking lot Pierce dances in the '90s. Since then, the attendance of the dances have been low.
Someone said that it felt like a middle school dance, no one was dancing, bad music. Dances are supposed to be for middle and high schoolers, not college students.
With the addition of low attendance, other things went wrong: motion sensors kept the lights on, the dance had to be moved to another room. This shows how little planning went into the dance.
Face it, Pierce isn't the place for teenage tango.
